The Power of Praise: Do it right to help someone!

A lack of praise or an excess of criticism can cause an emotional imbalance in people's lives.

Have you ever stopped to think about how this balance is going?

When something turns out differently from what we expected, it's very common and instinctive to criticise. We often criticise something so strongly that it's just a slip-up and forget to give a little praise to the many good things that we, or other people around us, have achieved.

A lack of praise or an excess of criticism can cause an emotional imbalance in people's lives! When we talk about emotional imbalance, we mean that a lack of praise or an excess of criticism lowers self-esteem and makes it difficult to make decisions on your own, among other things. This happens because our minds have registered that criticism is more valued than success, and this makes people feel weak.

Why do we find it so difficult to praise and easy to criticise? It's simple!

It takes courage to praise someone. After all, it's an act of trust in oneself and in the other person receiving our praise. When we praise someone, we are exalting them and often placing them above ourselves, giving them more importance and notoriety.

If we're trapped in our pride and low self-esteem, we can't praise, so we easily criticise to try to bring the person down to the same level or below us.

I recommend the constant exercise of praising to strengthen relationships and even to facilitate our self-knowledge. The feeling of devaluation, judgement and other negative feelings that haunt us may be related to a lack of praise, often in childhood.

We all deserve praise at various times in our lives. When we truly praise someone, we awaken in them a sense of recognition, belonging and, above all, well-being.
