Develop yourself as a High-Performance Leader

The high-performance leader is known for motivating, leading and inspiring people. As well as pointing out ways forward and opportunities for improvement, they walk side by side.

Being a leader is a very important position, because not only is your professional destiny in your hands, but also the destiny of thousands of people. It doesn't matter where you work or how many people you lead, it's you that your followers will look up to. Your words, attitudes and posture are, for the vast majority of those you lead, examples to be followed.

It is therefore essential that you have all the competences and skills relevant to the position of leadership, because only then will you achieve your objectives as a manager and as the person responsible for the results of those you lead.

In order to develop as a high-performance leader, you need to look for:

SELF-KNOWLEDGE:

What do I really enjoy doing? What am I really good at? What can I do easily and effortlessly? What kind of work do I enjoy doing?

When you can identify your skills, emotions, attitudes and behaviours, it becomes much easier to recognise your competences and abilities to manage.

In this way, you'll be able to maximise your ability to manage people. You'll feel more confident and secure when making decisions, you'll be able to find practical and strategic solutions to enhance the work you do with those you lead and you'll also be more assertive when it comes to professional change or building your team.

When you master your self-knowledge, you also realise that knowing others is fundamental. A leader is only a leader because he or she has people to lead. He or she needs to know these people by their competences and skills in order to know the best way to take advantage of what each member of the team has to incorporate into the whole and consequently leverage results.

SELF-MANAGEMENT:

Knowing how to manage yourself is fundamental for a high-performance leader; after all, you are a mirror for each of your team members, and being consistent in what you say and do will increase your team's trust and admiration for you.

INVOLVEMENT:

The involvement of the organisation as a whole is necessary to create the primary conditions for the success of you and your team. Acting on the political stage of the organisation.

PERSONAL MARKETING:

Take care of your image, as it is linked to your credibility, reliability, honesty, experience, competence, dynamism and your inspiration as a leader.

"If you don't believe the messenger, you won't believe the message either."

ENGAGEMENT:

Apply strategies to engage your team. Check out the research below:

  • 13% of people are engaged at work.
  • 63% of people are unmotivated and have no prospects of making the extra effort.
  • 24% of people are actively disengaged, unhappy and unproductive.

EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE:

You need to be able to identify your emotions and those of the other person, and know how to manage both to best advantage within the organisational environment. Pay attention to self-awareness, emotional self-control, empathy and social skills.

Unlike IQ, which changes little after our teenage years, everything indicates that emotional intelligence can be learnt to a large extent and continues to be developed throughout adulthood, combined with the experiences we accumulate.

With this information, we can conclude that at any time in our lives, we can build a new business plan for ourselves and our leaders.
